Good Training Markers ( treats):

Call them treats, call them goodies.. in training we call them "markers."  We will "mark" the behavior we want and create a reward for that behavior.

For training purposes, all markers should be soft and easily broken or cut into pea sized pieces.  At home, you may choose to use other types of treats.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 704-224-6906.

Remember to keep in mind, markers should be soft enough to break into tiny pieces – regardless of the size of your dog J

Great Choice ( Petsmart) Low Fat Chicken and Vegetable Jerky

Nature’s Recipe Training Treats

Dried chicken or liver ( this is a HIGH VALUE treat for the most difficult commands and behaviors. "Puppy Crack!" )

Fat free Hot Dogs (slice and cook on a baking sheet @ 250* for 15 minutes, cool.)

American Dog Jerky (chicken or beef)

Canine Carryouts ( crumble easily but dogs love them - like McDonald's for dogs... you wouldn't want a steady diet of these!)

Kong Training Treats

Pet Botanicals lamb and rice roll (rip off small hunks as a HIGH MOTIVATION marker)

Hill’s Science Diet Jerky Plus treats

Pupperoni, Jerky Treats, are good occasional rewards but I try to limit these.

Merrick's sausages

These are great for training at home - - not so great for class:

Apples(sliced)

Cheerios

Green Beans (canned sodium free)

Charlee Bear Liver dog treats

Carrots

Pretzels (  tad high on the sodium, tho’)
